Who We Serve

Page Ahead partners with elementary schools, early learning centers, and social service agencies across Washington State to increase access to books for children and families, educate and empower parents to support their children's learning, and provide professional development to early learning educators on current literacy research and strategies. Since it's inception in 1990, Page Ahead has distributed more than 2.8 million new books to over 850,000 at-risk children.

Page Ahead serves children from birth to age 12 who are considered to be at risk: of poor literacy outcomes, specifically: those who receive free/reduced lunch or live below the federal poverty level, are learning English, or read below grade level. By working with at risk children early in their learning process, Page Ahead helps them build strong reading skills and avoid the problems created by illiteracy.
