Page Ahead works with businesses, school groups and community organizations to collect new books to be distributed through our programs. We also link groups to specific schools for "adoption". Volunteers provide the books (through book drives or cash contributions) for the at-risk children in a program and then participate in reading events within those programs.

Banking for Books
March 2009
This March, Spokane banking institutions will help local kids get excited about reading by encouraging patrons to make a 'Book Deposit' at any of the locations listed below. You can donate a new children's book at the following branches to benefit Page Ahead, which will give 10,000 new books to Spokane County kids in need this year. We appreciate the 'interest' in children's literacy!

Pi Beta Phi Walk for Literacy
April 5, 2009
The collegiate and alumni members of the Pi Beta Phi will celebrate literacy by once again donning their walking shoes. Join their 4th annual walk by bringing a new children's book or two to donate; walkers can also enter by donating at least $5. Registration begins at 12:15p, and walking officially begins at 1:00p. Book Drive at Tacoma Art Museum's Spring Community Festival
April 19, 2009
Enter to win a book signed by award-winning author and illustrator David Macaulay or other prizes at the Tacoma Art Museum on Sunday, April 19! From noon to 5p, you are invited to bring or purchase a new children's books to donate. Additionally, learn to draw with silverpoint, cheer on the break dancers or just soak in the artistic atmosphere. Museum admission is free during the festival.

The Jungle Book at Book-It Repertory Theatre

Spend the morning with Kaa, Baloo, Bandar Log, Bagheera and the wolves in Book-It Repertory Theatre's production of The Jungle Book. For this special performance, Page Ahead is once again partnering with Book-It and Mockingbird Books to offer mask-making and other special activities, a book fair, and a workshop for young people. Children's tickets are only $10, Adults $12. The admission price includes the performance, a book fair, workshops and craft projects related to the book. Snacks and juice will also be available for just $1.
